Church Council

The Church Council meets monthly to oversee all matters pertaining to the general welfare of the congregation.


Waterstram - Rich KristenKristen Waterstram-Rich, President (585-475-5117)

Provides leadership at Voters' Assembly and Church Council, oversees Council, Boards and committees in carrying out their responsibilities.

Kristen Waterstram-Rich is a lifelong resident of Rochester and serves as a Professor and advisor at RIT (Rochester Institute of Technology), where she has been employed for over 30 years.


HeissGuenther Heiss, Vice President (585-624-5488)

The Vice President is Chairman of the Committees on Finance and Strategic Planning.  He stands in for the Council President in the event of an absence or vacancy.

Born and raised in White Plains, a suburb of NYC. He is married to his high-school sweetheart, Margaret, is the father of Nancy, Susan, John, and Peter, and grand-father of Andy, John, and Nick. Retired, except for some part-time business/engineering consulting; has been a resident of the Town of Mendon since 1989. He and his wife have traveled extensively and enjoy sharing memories of their trips; enjoys outside activities, woodworking, shooting, and staying busy; an active St. Mark member with a history of volunteering in church, and in serving in professional and civic roles

Pete LehningPeter Lehning, Treasurer (253-961-3743)

Receives all deposit receipts and summary sheets from Financial Secretary, keeps accurate records of receipts and disbursements.

Peter Lehning recently joined St. Mark with his boys after returning to the Rochester area to be near family. He & his wife, Lisa, retired from US Army as Colonels. They enjoy raising their boys, Hank & Zach, and have also begun raising cattle in Honeoye Falls.


Scott Stranford

Scott Stranford, Financial Secretary (585-944-4017)

Counts all funds received through envelope and plate offerings and to keep accurate records of the same.





Carla Volkman-LienCarla Volkman Lien, Recording Secretary  (612-865-2167)

Keeps accurate minutes of the meetings of the Voters' Assembly and of the Church Council for the permanent records of this Congregation.

Carla has been retired for 10 years, but remains active in non-profit organizations like Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts of America. In her spare time, she teaches outdoor survival skills, ballroom dance, takes nature hikes, gardens, tends to God's creatures and creates works of art using various mediums.


Jeff Lillie

 Jeff Lillie, Chairman-Board of Trustees (585-683-0053)

 Administers all property belonging to this church and to transact all the business of this Congregation assigned to them by the Voters' Assembly.

Jeff is married to Debbie and they have a daughter Brittany. In the summer, he coaches a 23 and under, 14 and under, and 12 and under softball team. He volunteers at a homeless shelter called the Dimitree House in the cityJeff is an Electrical Engineer and designs Integrated Circuits.


Chuck boothChuck Bannister, Board of Elders (585-385-4931)

The Board of Elders Assists the Pastor in tending to the spiritual welfare of the members of this Congregation and supervising all public worship.

Georgette Peterson

Georgette Peterson, Board of Stewardship (585-944-4864)

Encourage and train members of this Congregation in sound stewardship principles of time, talents, and treasures.


Kathy StranfordKathy Stranford, Board of Christian Education (585-944-4564)

The Board of Christian Education provides learning opportunities for all age levels: Sunday School, VBS, Youth, and Adult Bible classes.


Kay KillenbecKay Killenbec, Evangelism (585-624-2556)


The Board of Evangelism equips members of the congregation in bringing the good news of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the people of the surrounding communities. 

Kay grew up in Naples, NY on a farm.  She loves horse back riding and hiking in the mountains.  Kay has been a long-time member of St. Mark and has been blessed with 8 sons, a daughter and 9 grandchildren!
